One of the many reasons people unfollow you is because they feel you are constantly self-promoting. Spamming is taboo. Our exposure to it comes in many forms every single day – email, forum boards, blog comments, phone calls, text messaging, auto-reply on Twitter and even snail mail. It’s overkill and it’s annoying.
Some people choose to use automatic reply tweets via DM (direct message) to their new followers. First impressions are important so don’t make the mistake of sending an automatic reply tweet by spamming your new followers. For me, that’s a guaranteed unfollow.
Social networking is about connecting, sharing and learning. It’s never about promoting your business first.

There’s so many social networking sites to be a part of like Facebook, Ning, Twitter, work at home forums and so on. While they are all great tools to have and they can help your business in many ways, it’s also an overwhelming experience. Jumping on the bandwagon on every next great thing out there does more damage than good.
How do you really benefit by spreading yourself so thin? It’s not necessary to join everything that all the gurus say to join or do.
Find what works for you and focus on doing it not just well, but extremely well.
