I am a big fan of Twitter and on most days you can find me on Twitter tweeting out business tips, links to business articles, crafting links and recipes. (some of my favorite things!). Over on Twitter I follow a lot of Etsy sellers who have a home-based craft business and so my post today is directed towards “some” of them.
The past several months I have noticed that a lot of the Etsy sellers will sit on Twitter for several hours a day tweeting out links to their products for sale over on Etsy and they will retweet out links to other Etsy seller’s products too. While this is good it is also bad.
I spent some time talking to two Etsy sellers a few days ago to see what else they do online to promote their Etsy store and both of these gals told me NOTHING. They simply sit on Twitter and tweet several hours a day. Both told me they do get a sale or two every week but customers are just not rolling in like they thought they would.
Well…I am here to tell you that Twitter is only one tool you should be using…there are others and a lot of these other tools will get you better results than spending 5 hours a day sitting on Twitter tweeting out all of your links. Here are some suggestions that I recommend that you should be doing.
1. Start a blog! Blogging about your business, crafts and products is a great way to reach new people and you can get in-depth and more personal on your blog than you can on your Etsy store. Blogging also helps you build up some links that point to your Etsy store and search engines these days crawl blogs pretty quickly and get them indexed. This means new traffic for you and possibly new customers. Blogging is a fabulous way to promote your business.
2. Try Article Marketing! If you can write a decent article (you don’t have to be a professional writer) then try article marketing. You simply write a 250 + word article related to your niche (business) and submit your articles to online article directories. People who are looking for blog, newsletter or website content will use your article which gives you new business exposure to people you might not of come into contact on your own. In addition, article marketing is a great way for you to build up valuable incoming one-way links which helps you climb higher in the search engine results.
3. Try Guest Blogging! If you don’t want to publish & maintain a blog on your own then consider writing up blog posts related to your niche and submit those posts to niche-related blogs for publishing. You would be amazed that thousands of bloggers do indeed accept guest blogger posts! Again…this is a great way to expose your business to new potential customers and it will get you some great incoming links.
There are many free and low-cost ways you can promote your Etsy store online and you should be utilizing as many of them as you can. Twitter is just one tool you should use but in my opinion, it’s not the best tool and the three options above would work better.

Why Should I use Article Marketing in my Business? by Corrie Petersen
This is a question I receive all the time. Some people that ask that question are new to owning a business while others have an established business but they need a way to grow. In this article I want to answer this question so others will have a better understanding of article marketing and why you should use it in your business.
First I want to explain what article marketing is, and then I’ll explain how you should use it no matter what type of business you run.
Article marketing is the act of writing articles and submitting them to article directories. Your articles need to be based on your business in some aspect. For example, if you run an Avon business you should write about makeup and jewelry. If you run a coaching business you should write articles that are geared toward the reasons why people need a coach and how a coach can help them with their business or personal life.
Once you have your articles written you need to find directories that are geared toward your target market. When your articles are put in front of people that need them, you’ll build trust and gain respect. Once that happens you have reached a milestone.
It doesn’t matter what type of business you run, article marketing is something you need to do. It builds trust and shows you’re an expert. Once you have gained that with your readers and followers they’ll want to purchase from you because they feel comfortable and they trust your knowledge. People will also feel comfortable sharing your products with others when they trust you.
Every business should have articles, even businesses that offer safe cleaning products, candles, blog management, mentoring, or advertising. There are literally thousands of people that are looking for articles based on your offerings and when you put them in front of them they’ll want to see what you have to offer and they’ll come back for more.
One thing you need to know about article marketing is it doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and you must continue to write articles on a regular basis. This is where some people have a problem when it comes to article marketing. They feel five or six or maybe 10 articles will be enough, but that is not true. You need to continue to write and have hundreds of articles under your writing belt. You can’t just stop writing or it won’t work.
So now I go back to my article title and I ask the question again. Why should I use article marketing in my business? The answer is growth, trust, and expertise. When you have all three of those things, your business will begin to grow and will continue to grow if you continue to use article marketing on a regular basis.

WAHM-Articles.com blog is having a blog tour on articles and article marketing. I am happy to be a part of this tour and I’m also excited because this is my first tour.
The question today is…
How easy is it to write articles for article marketing?
It’s funny how many times I’ve said if you can put words together and put it in a complete sentence, you can write. While that is somewhat true, it doesn’t mean someone can write to convey what they really mean.
Everyone can write, but it doesn’t mean they can write well. If you’re blogging or doing some other form of writing and you have a good grasp of the English language, good spelling and grammar then you’re on your way.
When it comes to writing articles and article marketing it’s more than just writing well. You have to think about keywords or key phrases. After all you’re writing for search engines too so someone who’s looking for information, if they type in your specific key phrase, it’s a good chance your article could come up first or at least on the first page of their search results. This is what you’re hoping for so by the time they’ve finished reading your article, you have engaged them enough to click through your byline to your site.
I know sometimes it’s hard to write with a keyword or key phrase in mind, but just let the words flow. Don’t worry too much about your word. Most times the keyword/s will come naturally when you’re writing and if it doesn’t you can always add it and change phrases after you complete your article. For an article that is well-written no one should notice what the keyword or key phrase is.
As to keyword density and how many times should you use it? According to EzineArticles.com (an article directory) it’s per every 100 words. If you write a 650 word article, then you would use the keyword 6 times. You can use variations of the keyword too. Remember the article should read fluidly, not awkward.
Using keywords or key phrase is as important as writing articles that inform, teach, or inspire. Writing articles for article marketing can be simple when you keep practicing, keep writing engaging articles and keep these two things in mind…keywords/key phrase rich articles and valuable content that speak to your readers.
Anyone who can grasp the English language who has good spelling & grammar skills can write an article. With that being said, not everyone is going to be a great article writer.
I have read a gazillion articles where the author has gotten too wordy & didn’t convey the message that they set out to convey. I have also read a gazillion articles where poor grammar was used and a ton of incorrectly spelled words. I can tell you first hand, no one wants to read an article like that.
The next important thing about article writing is that you have to know what you are talking about in the article. You have to have your information & facts correct. If you publish mis-information in your articles 9 out of 10 chances you will be called out on it so always do your homework first on the topic you are writing about.
Just about anyone can write an article but not everyone will make a great author.

Writing doesn’t come easy to everyone, but I believe everyone can write well when given the proper tools.
Here are six ideas that will help you become a better and more confident writer.
1. Start with your basics and review grammar and punctuation rules. Keep a thesaurus and dictionary close by when you start writing seriously.
2. Start writing. Start a blog and write from thought. Let your ideas flow and don’t worry about the mistakes you’re making while your writing. Just keep the flow going and you can always choose to edit after.
3. Find a writing mentor or someone who will help critique your writing. Someone else who writes will be extra beneficial to you as they will provide the best constructive criticism.
4. Read a variety of material as this will expand your vocabulary and expose you to the different writng styles from different authors. Take the time to read each day for at least one half of an hour.
5. You can find free writing tutorials or worksheets online to help with your writing. You can also look in your local library for books, community colleges, or community centers where they may offer writing workshops or courses.
6. Gather your writing material and your topics and start making an outline of what your topic will be about. You don’t have to do it in one sitting if you can’t, but each day add more to it until you have completed your article.
You can also set up your own writing goals, challenges or writing project to keep you focused and keep you writing because the only way to gain confidence and experience is writing consistently.
