10 Proven Ways to Optimize Your Facebook Page by Terri Seymour
Social media marketing is absolutely essential in today’s online business world. It has taken the internet by storm both professionally and personally. Social media marketing means to market your business with the use of social networks, blogs, message boards, discussion groups, online communities and other such media. Some of the most popular social network sites are Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
Social marketing involves a lot more than just signing up and pasting up your page. You need to maximize your page’s effectiveness and keep it fresh, updated and alive. Below are 10 things you can do to optimize your Facebook page to make sure your business is getting the maximum benefits.
1. Create an Effective Profile – Do not use a half-done profile. Fill in your profile completely. This is for your business so be professional yet show people you care about your customers and will be there for them. Make sure your photo (if of yourself) is professional. You could also use your logo. Let people know what your business can do for them. Write an effective mission statement. Let your visitors know why they should do business with you but be careful what you reveal for security reasons.
2. Get Your Visitors Involved in Discussions – This is a great way to get your visitors to “Like” you and to keep coming back. Start helpful and informative discussions about topics related to your products or services. For example: if you sell home décor, start discussions about home decorating ideas, budget decorating, home improvement, etc. Encourage people to join the discussions and leave their business signature for more exposure.
3. Customize Your Page – Don’t let your page be one of the cookie cutter pages like everyone else. Customize it to fit your business needs and the needs of your visitors. Use images that brand you and your business and make it enjoyable and memorable.
4. Events and Contests – Keep your page alive and active with special events and contests. Each time a fan RSVP’s the event, it shows up in his profile. And so on and so on. Thus creating a ripple effect for your business.
5. Special Offers and Sales – People are always looking for good deals and special offers so don’t disappoint. Show your visitors you want to give them the best possible deal on your products/services.
6. Multi-Media Integration – Use audio and video content for your page. Audio and video can be extremely effective in capturing and holding the attention of visitors. According to webnox, video is 58% more effective than just using plain text!
7. Make Your Tabs More Memorable – Facebook does allow you to change the usual boring tabs to more suit your needs. Make them unique to your page and business. You can also change the order in which you present your tabs. You can find easy to follow online tutorials on how to do this.
8. Utilize Your Sidebar – Take advantage of your sidebar space. This is a great place for testimonials or newsletter sign-up forms. You can also use this space for affiliate links, a survey for your visitors to help improve your page/business. Add links to your main website or special offers you may have going.
9. Add a Poll to Your Page – People like knowing their opinion matters so add interest to your page with a poll. You can add them using a free poll creator from Vizu. Polls can attract attention and encourage your visitors to interact with your page.
10. Post Regularly – I cannot stress this enough! Do not start your page and then let it sit for weeks at a time. You have to be there every day updating, adding new content, checking things over, and finding ways to improve your page. I recently started using social marketing and unfortunately need to take my own advice on this one. I have just not been involved enough with my Facebook page but that will soon be changing. The hold that social media has on the internet is astronomical so do not be left out in the cold!
So far I am involved with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn so feel free to come over and see me. I would love to see your page as I am learning more about this phenomenal marketing tool. I hope we all can use these types of sites to help each other improve our business and increase our sales!

If you are with one of the Direct Sales companies, I am sure you know all about how important it is to add new team members to your home business. When you build a successful downline team, you will make a certain percentage of your team’s sales, which adds to your income stream.
As someone who has worked in Direct Sales since 1989, I thought I would share some of my best tips on where I find my newly recruited team members.
1. At The Party: My number one source of adding new members to my business has been when I have recruited them from a home party. During the party presentation, I drop numerous hints about how fabulous it is to work from home with ABC company. At the end of my presentation, I always spend a few in depth minutes talking about the home business opportunity with the attendees.
2. At Offline Networking Events: My number two source for adding new members to my home business has been when I have attended local home business networking events. When you attend these events, you are meeting and greeting with other like-minded home business professionals who are interested in you and the type of business that you represent.
3. On Online Social Media Networks: My number three source for adding new members to my home business has been when I have ran advertisements on various online social media networking sites. These advertisements can be text ads or graphic ads and both have been effective for me. When I run ads on these networking sites, I try to target people who I think would be interested in my business. For the most part, I target stay at home moms.
4. On Online Work At Home Web Sites: My number four source for finding new members to add to my team has been through text ads or graphic ads that I have placed on various online work at home mom or stay at home mom web sites. These type of web sites attract the type of people who are most likely to join a Direct Sales business.
5. In Print Offline Media Publications: My number five source for finding new members to add to my team has been from classified advertisements that I have ran in various local print publications. To be honest, I don’t get much of a response from newspaper ads. However, when I place print ads in regional magazines, I have gotten a great response.
Well…there you have it! These are the top 5 places where I find new members to recruit into my home business opportunity. No matter where you decide to advertise your business, you always need to make sure that you are targeting the type of people who are most likely to be interested in the type of business that you represent.

When you are with a Direct Sales company, part of the income that you earn from the business is generated from the sales that your downline team makes. With that said, You need to spend quality time training and working with your team, so that you are earning that additional income stream.
As the leader or manager of your team, it is important that you educate, motivate, coach and train your members to run a proficient profitable business. If your team is making money, than you will make money.
Let’s take a look at everything you need to do in a little more detail.
1. Educate: It is your job to educate your members on the company’s policy, business system, products, home party booking system and the company’s business opportunity. When your members are properly educated on all of these policies and topics, they will have a more successful business.
2. Motivate: A good leader will work really hard to motivate their members to get out there and work the business. This motivation can come in the form of pep talks, regular meetings and by offering incentives to your members when they reach certain business goals.
3. Coach: I look at coaching as being a little different than training. For me, I like to ask all my members to list out what their goals are for each aspect of the business. Once I receive their lists, I tailor my coaching to each person’s individual needs. Coaching to me is offering my advice, education, training and expertise to help guide them on the path to reach their own individual success.
4. Train: All team leaders are responsible for training their members and this training is not offered as a one time deal or just at the beginning when someone joins your business opportunity. Training members is taking the Education to an entirely different level. Leaders are responsible to train their members on a ongoing basis. That means training them on new policy changes, updates on sales specials, new ways on demonstrating products and new methods for recruiting. Training is something that is done continually and regularly with the members of your team.
When you spend quality time doing all of the above with the members you are responsible for, they in turn will be better business owners. This will pay off for you because the more successful your members are in their business, the more successful you will be in yours.

In this day and age, many online individuals and friends are partnering up and starting various online businesses. That is all well and good but do you have an official plan of what you will do if that business partnership dissolves in a few years? If not, you really should!
Before you even begin a business partnership with another individual you both should sit down and discuss what will happen if and when the partnership dissolves. Here are some things you both should consider.
1. If one of you decide to leave the partnership, how much notice should be given to the other partner and how should this notice be communicated? Depending on the type of business you have started, the notice should be no less than 30 days.
2. Once one of you decides to leave the business, what is expected of that person until the final end date? In other words, will the person leaving the business still be required to fulfill their daily job duties until the final end date?
3. Once the business partnership is dissolved, who will retain the business? Will there be any costs involved in restructuring the business to sole ownership and who will be responsible for paying those costs?
4. If the partnership should end on bad terms, do you have a non-disclosure policy in effect? If you don’t have one, I suggest you draft one up! A lot of times when partnerships fail, hurt feelings sometimes get out of control and gossip and slander can hurt the partner that is left running the business.
When you partner up with another person and start an online business together, it is important to properly plan out all of the details of that partnership should a break up occur. By planning ahead for this type of scenario, it can save you a lot of heartache, grief and money.

As mothers we lead very busy and stressful lives and through out our day…we often forget to take time out for ourselves. We are always busy making meals, cleaning the home, running household errands, playing “mom” taxi, taking care of the children and then you throw in working in our outside the home and by the end of the day there is no time left for yourself. Does this sound a lot like you? If so, it is time to make a change!
For many years I was one of those “moms” who did everything for my family and I mean everything! By the time bedtime rolled around every night, I would fall into bed from complete physical exhaustion. What I realized towards the end of all of that madness is that I was overly tired, very stressed out and had little patience for the things I normally had a lot of patience for. I knew emotionally I had to make a change.
What I decided to do was to spend 15 minutes on myself each and every day. It didn’t matter if that 15 minutes was bright and early in the morning, in the middle of the afternoon or late in the evening after everyone went to bed., but I was determined to squeeze 15 minutes out of every day just for myself. Once I decided to do this I sat down and made a list of things that I could do for myself in that short period of time. Here are some of the ideas I came up with.
Manicure and Pedicure.
Read A Good Book or The Bible
Take A Hot Bubble Bath
Do A Relaxing Workout (like yoga or pilates)
Take A Swim (if you have a pool)
Craft (crochet, scrapbook, cross stitch, whatever it is you like to do)
Enjoy A Nice Cup of Coffee or Tea
Take A Walk Outdoors
Write A Letter To A Friend (for postal mailing)
Pamper Yourself With A Homemade Facial
Nice Quiet Phone Call To A Friend or Family Member
Massage (yes, you can give yourself a massage)
Meditate (light a candle and spend some time just reflecting)
As you can see, there are many things you can do for just yourself every day in just 15 minutes of time. If you take time out for yourself, you will find that you will be less edgy and be in a better mood and not only that, when you are under too much stress it can cause physical health problems. You do everything for your family and that is great…but you also need to take care of yourself!

5 Fun Party Games for Direct Sales That Will Boost Your Business
By S Myers
If you are in direct sales, the money is all in the parties you do. You want your hostess and her guests to have as much fun as possible, but at the same time, you need to educate them on and interest them in your products. You may also want to plant the idea of one of them becoming a consultant. Party games can accomplish all of this while providing entertainment to the guests. Here are a few of our favorite games. Give them a try and watch your business grow.
1) Bingo
This is an easy all-time favorite and an easy way to introduce a wide variety of products to the group.
Create some bingo cards by drawing a 4 by 4 box grid on a piece of paper. Write “Free” on the center box. Then write the names of your products on the remaining boxes in random order on each of the bingo cards and make yourself a set of cards with just one of the products on each card. You will use this set of cards to draw the bingo “numbers”. You may want to have a sample of each of the products with you and show it and talk about it when the product is drawn during the bingo game. As in ordinary bingo, the first person who has a row of items checked off wins a prize.
2) Get To Know Each Other Game
This game makes for a nice icebreaker, especially if most of the guests don’t know each other. It can also provide you some clues about who may be a potential prospect.
Pass around a bag of M&Ms. Tell everyone to take as many as they would like. Quickly ask them to count the number of candies in their hand. Each person then takes a turn standing up and telling as many things about themselves and their family as they have M&M’s. Of course no one is allowed to eat their M&Ms until they have had their turn.
3) How Well Do You Know Your Hostess?
Give a piece of paper to each of your guests and have them number it from 1 to 10. Then ask them to answer the following questions.
1) What is your hostess’s favorite color?
2) If she could have any vehicle, what would it be?
3) How many kids does she have?
4) What is her favorite hobby?
5) Who is her favorite actor?
6) What is her favorite animal?
7) What is her favorite TV show?
8) What is her favorite food?
9) What is her favorite scent or smell?
10) If you were in need of something, would your hostess give it to you if she can?
After everyone writes down their answers (including the hostess), read the questions again and have the hostess tell everyone her answers. The other guests mark on their papers if they got it right or wrong. The person with the most write answers wins a small prize or discount on their purchase.
You can change and rearrange any of the questions, but leave the last one in place. It provides a nice lead- in to mention that the hostess will get free product if they purchase a certain amount, and/or book their own parties.
4) Left Right Game
This game is a great way to start a party, right before you go into your presentation. Pass out one or two small gifts. Tell your guests that you will read them a story and that they should pass the gift to the person to the right when they hear the word “right” and to the left when you mention “left. The person holding the gift at the end of the story gets to keep it.
Here is the story:
I left my house and was on my way to (insert hostess’s name) house. But I soon discovered that I had left my directions at home, right by the phone! Well, I knew right away that I needed to have the right directions to (insert hostess’s name) house, so I turned left and I turned left and I turned right and made my way back to my house for the right directions. Sure enough, there they were, right where I had left them, right next to the phone.
Finally, I was on the right track. I arrived right on time and set up my (insert your company name) presentation right over here. You all arrived and sat down. I’m going to get right down to work and tell you about (name of company). I hope nothing will be left out. In a moment I’ll show you our new line of (insert your type of products) products. If you left home with the intention of shopping for gifts tonight, you’ll find we have the right gift for everyone. Think about upcoming birthdays and holidays, we don’t want anyone left out. I’d be happy to help you find the right gift for that special someone.
(Insert name of company) has a (insert number of days) -day return policy. When your merchandise comes in please check it right away. If something is not right please call me right away and you can be sure I will take care of it right away. You don’t want to be left with something you are not 100% satisfied with, right? If you’d like to be a hostess and earn free and discounted merchandise, this is the right time for you to explore hosting a party.
I’m enjoying being here with all of you tonight and I hope you are having fun, too. I know you can’t wait to see if we have that special item you have been looking for, so without further delay I will get right to the point of this party, which is showing you our great products! So, there is really nothing left for me to do except congratulate the winner, right?
5) Ask Me About My Job
This game is a great way to get your guests thinking about joining your company.
Get or make up some tickets.
Tell your guests that for the next 3 minutes you are going to play ” Ask Me About My Job”. The first person to come up with a question will get 3 tickets, the second person will get 2 and every question after that earns one ticket.
You will hear questions like “How long have you been doing this?” and “How many hours a week do you work?” Answer them as positively as possible. Good answers to the questions above would be “I’ve been doing this for 12 months and I’ve never had so much fun” and ” I only work evenings and weekends because I want to be home with my kids”.
After the three minutes are up, tell you guests to hang on to their tickets. You will have another short Q&A session towards the end of the party (your guests will have thought of some additional questions by then). After that have a drawing for a small prize.
This game is a great opportunity for you to teach your guests about your business and they may see how could benefit them.
Give a few of these games a try and put your own spin on them. All of these can easily be adapted and modified to work for you and the particular direct sales company that you represent. Go out there and have fun!
