Canada had its Thanksgiving in October. It was really nice to get together with family and catch up. I don’t have any Thanksgiving traditions, do you?

Feel free to share them by leaving us a comment.

Here are some Thanksgiving Turkey Tips from Homebasics.ca

How much turkey should you buy?
Allow 1 1/2 lbs per person for generous servings plus leftovers.

How long does it take to thaw a turkey in the refrigerator?
Allow 1 day for every 4 pounds.

How do you know when the turkey is cooked?
The temperature in the thigh is 180° F / 82° C and stuffing 165° F/ 74° C. For food safety, refrigerate leftover turkey within two hours of cooking.

I am looking forward to Thanksgiving here this year because I will hopefully stay out of the hospital and….. It will be Baby G’s first Thanksgiving :)

I always get the honor of cooking for Thanksgiving and I prepare a feast with a ton of leftovers. We order our turkey from a local farmer who raises them with organic feed. We usually do a 15 to 22 lb turkey *gobble gobble* along with several side dishes and a few desserts!

The day after Thanksgiving, (black friday), my hubby and daughter have a tradition of going out to breakfast at 5am and then hitting the sales. My tradition is to stay home and bake while they are gone as I am not much for fighting nutty crowds on black friday.

I would be shocked if you weren’t the one cooking the turkey and baking all your yummy desserts for the family and for Baby G’s first Thanksgiving. I mean even in your hospital bed I’m sure you can whip up something, but I know you will be home this Thanksgiving to enjoy it with your family.

Are the sales really worth it? Do they find good deals?
